The brief was to create a coffee table book capturing ‘the making of’ the Bollywood film ‘Chef’ which takes you on a fun-filled, road trip with food and family as the focus.
The book was used as a marketing tool at the launch of the film, taking readers on a gastronomical adventure through New York, Kerala, Goa, Amritsar and New Delhi.
We did not want it to be a one-time read. So we had our most favourite recipes from each city illustrated beautifully in a water colour technique that kept bringing people back. The hand-drawn illustrations are used as footnote, depict the key highlights of the storyline in its original sequence. They serve as a thread tying in the story, but without giving away any clues.
This was an especially fun project as it allowed us to get our desks and hands dirty with paint and ink.
